Survivor Camp – Intermediate
Survivor Camp – Intermediate

The Survivor Camp is a 4-day/3-night intermediate camp, designed for children (10-15 years) who love the outdoors and would like to test and improve their outdoor skills in a fun and safe environment. With too much screen times in our kid’s day to day life, it is time to switch off and get back to nature and connect with people face to face.

This camp is intended to get the kids out of their comfort zone and build resilience by provide an opportunity to challenge themselves individually as well as in a team environment.

Home base is in Hidden Valley from where we will ride our bikes, explore a hidden gorge, learn how to shoot a bow and arrow and build a raft to paddle across the river to reach even more amazing places many people don’t get to see. Please note that parts of this camp are held on private property and prior authorisation is required to visit these places.

Below is an example of the activities that are planned for the Survivor camp.

Day 1

Meeting point is at the Intersport carpark (Woolcock Street) for an 8am departure. Please arrive on time.

The Outer Limits bus takes the group up to Paluma where we will stop for morning tea at the Outer Limits Adventure Centre. The group gets split into smaller groups and everyone will receive their Survivor Kit. The first Survivor Challenge awaits at the High Ropes Course.

We continue on the bus to Hidden Valley where the group will cook lunch and set up their camp sites with their camp groups. The afternoon challenge will see the groups constructing their own catapults and testing out their structure in a battle with the other groups. A swim in the nearby natural pools will cool things off and refresh the spirit. Dinner is cooked on the campfire under the stars and once the bellies are full it is time to switch on the brain for a round of night time puzzles.

Day 2

The early bird catches the worm and movement is good for the soul. Tie your laces up and get your sweat on with an early morning bootcamp to get the day started.

After a nourishing breakfast, the group hikes into the gorge, where they have to build rafts in order to get to their next destination. Once they arrive, another vertical challenge awaits and will test everyone individually. A bit of free time to explore this hidden location and a packed lunch will have the group ready to return back to camp. On the way to camp, groups have to collect fire wood and bring it back to camp. Make sure to collect the ‘good stuff’, otherwise cooking dinner will be a challenge.

Day 3

After breakfast the whole group will split into half and complete a navigation challenge on foot and then on bike. Follow the clues on the map to find your checkpoints. Lunch is back at base camp, followed by some free time before we play the all time favourite game of Archery Tag. The two groups verse each other on a big open field, trying to kick out their opponents by hitting them with a foam head arrow.

The third night on camp is the big survivor test. We can’t give away too much, but let’s just say your bed time will be extended.

Day 4

Time to pack up camp and get excited to sleep in your own bed again. But before we head home, we will work on our aim and concentration with some target archery. The teams get to play a number of scoring games to get their final camp scores up.

At lunch time we will crown the winning group before hopping back on the bus to drive back to Townsville. We will arrive at the Intersport carpark (Woolcock Street) at 3pm. Please be on time for pick up
