XTERRA Townsville & Cape Pallarenda Trail Run
A weekend not to be missed! Outer Limits has teamed up with Xterra Australia to bring you the iconic off-road triathlon right to your doorstep. Join us for an exciting off-road triathlon race on Saturday, 1st September and back it up with our most popular trail run ‘Cape Pallarenda’ the next day, Sunday 2nd September.

The XTERRA Townsville course is at the Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park, once a quarantine station in the early 1900’s and a strategic defence location in World War II. The park offers a fantastic trail network for mountain biking and trail running, all whilst taking in the great views onto Magnetic Island and the Townsville mainland.

What Is XTERRA?
In 1996, mountain biking and triathlon met in a duel of the fittest on the island of Maui. The race consisted of a rough water swim, a mountain bike race, and a trail run. It represented a bold new racing format that attracted outdoor enthusiasts, adventure seekers, mountain bikers and triathletes. The mountain bikers brought their laid-back style and bold self-assurance. The triathletes brought their hard-core training and avid dedication. They soon discovered a common “Live More” spirit that pulled them together. The relationship flourished into an internationally-recognized brand called XTERRA, and today there are close to one hundred thousand athletes not only taking part in the races, but truly living the lifestyle.
Course options & Categories
Standard Distance: 1.5km swim (2 x 750m), 30km mountain bike, 10km trail run
Sprint Distance: 750m ocean swim, 14km mountain bike and 5km trail run
Start Times: will be available closer to the event
Standard Divisions: Pro/elite, Age Group men and women – 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+, Challenged.
Sprint Divisions: 14-15, 16-19, 20-24 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+, Challenged.
Xticer Divisions: 12-13, 14-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+, Challenged.
Race as part of a team: 2-3 persons – men, women and coed – can race as a team in either the standard full-distance race or the sprint distance
