Franklin River Rafting Expedition
December 11 @ 8:00 am - December 22 @ 5:00 pm$2100
Outer Limits is heading south to beat the heat and tackle one of the worlds best rafting river, the mighty Franklin river. The Franklin is located in the Central High Lands of Tasmania in the Franklin Gordon wild river nation park and is part of the Tasmanian wilderness world heritage area.
The Trip: Our trip begins at the famous Derwent Bridge and finishes some 110km later in Strahan. This is a very remote river with big rapids. It requires a lot of physical work hauling the rafts and gear and while the food it great its roughing it in the bush. there is no room to pack luxuries but plenty of of room for the adventurous soul!
We have teamed up with some of the most experienced guides in Tassie t0 lead us down this wild river rich in history and adventure.
NOTE: We need to allow for extra days both sides of the trip for weather. Please book flights down to be ready to depart on the 11th return flights no earlier then the 22nd of December
When: On the afternoon of Sunday the 10th we will all meet our guides and hand out equipment before going to a group dinner.
The expedition leaves Hobart on Monday 11th December at 5am. You need to arrange your own transport and accommodation prior to the 11th. Its a 3 hour bus ride up the the Derwent bridge (inc in cost) where the adventure begins, 8/9 days later you will board boat to cruise down the Gordon River back to reality in Strahan and spend the day driving back to Hobart.
All going to plan we will arrive back in Hobart on the 18th or 19th. You need to have a plan for accomodation on your return before flying home.
You will be able to leave a bag behind of items you do not need down the river.
Gear list: It is very very cold water and the weather in Tassie in February can be anywhere from amazing to very miserable.
Cost: $2100 per person. This does not include flights or accommodation before and after.
A 50% deposit is to be paid to secure your spot on the trip and the balance paid by the 5th December. We have limited numbers.
NOTE: We need minimum of 10 people for this trip to go ahead. A refund of the deposit will be made in full if we do not get the numbers.
Just incase: Worst case scenario if the river does no have sufficient water for us to make it down safely (or to much from heavy rain) the cost of the rip will be refunded. This will not be known until close to the time. We understand flights need to be booked ASAP so please take out travel insurance for the trip. We do have a plan B and C (ocean paddle, mountain bike, hiking) if it comes to it. There are plenty of things to do in Tassie, let’s just hope we get to the one of the best of them!
